Herd will be scored on a 9-9-18 month interval schedule. The advantages of this program are:
Herds interested in classifiying must file an application of Type Classification at least 45 days prior to the date scheduled for the work in their state. Those missing the application deadline and still desiring to be classified during the regular tour for their state must pay a $100 late fee to be included in the tour. Cost to classify is $10/cow.
Herds in the AMSS EXPRESS program will be included in the regular tour for their state, unless they request to be included on a mini-tour instead. AMSS EXPRESS program includes classification of all 1st and 2nd lactation animals. Other animal in the herd can be classified at the regular classification price of $10 a head. Those herds participation in the AMSS EXPRESS program will be contacted as to how many they wish to classify, prior to the 45 days advance notice. This information is necessary to effectively schedule the tours.
